Goal-Setting and Giveaways + San Diego Branding Photographer
Right about this time of year I get anxious. I start reflecting on the past year and what I've learned and what's changed, what is still the same and how I've failed....especially how I've failed. I guess it's just human nature to be your own worst critic, but I had to check myself yesterday when I started dwelling about what things hadn't changed this year or what I didn't accomplish. I had to remind myself of all the little victories scattered throughout the year.
A year ago, I never would have thought I would be the person to go to an event alone and talk to strangers. A year ago, I didn't have this amazing network of creatives and entrepreneurs who have been a source of inspiration and comfort. A year ago, I would have never thought to launch an entirely new business from scratch. Hell, a year ago I couldn't even come close to doing a pull up, and now not only can I do one (just one, lol) but I also worked up to a 110 lb bench press. All of these things deserve to be recognized and celebrated, not by others but by Me.
So now that I've realized I had a pretty kick ass year, it's time to think about what I want to accomplish in 2018. It's time to: SET GOALS.
I love this quote from Anne of Green Gables. Every year, it's nice to think about starting fresh and new, but how can you make sure you wont abandon your goals and resolutions before January 31st? It's important to set S.M.A.R.T. goals.
Your goal needs to be clearly defined and specific. The more detailed you can get with setting a goal, the clearer your path will be to achieving it. For example, one of the goals I'm setting for myself is to have 1 Client that I work with on a monthly retainer and who I've built a solid working relationship with.
How will you know if you've met your goal if you haven't figured out how to measure progress? You won't! Really think about the steps you need to take to reach your goal, and tackle one at a time.
You hear it all the time, "dream big!" Well yes, but within reason. Of course you should set high standards for yourself, but think about what is achievable and what will keep you motivated.
Make sure your goal is in line with your personal or business values, because if it isn't you will be more likely to drop it before your champagne buzz has worn off.
What's the timeline for meeting your goal? Will it take all 12 months or less? Maybe one big goal can be divided into smaller goals that you can set time limits for though out the year. Setting due dates is super important to keeping you on track.
Now it's time for the Giveaway
To celebrate the close of an amazing year, I want to give back to one lucky boss babe some goodies from some of my favorite businesses. My 2018 Goal Setting Giveaway includes: a Sexy Mind T-shirt, a Passion Planner, a $10 gift card to Better Buzz Coffee, and a free head-shot image from me! That's right, the winner will be well on their way to crushing their goals in 2018!
